About This Tool

QuickKit Aspect Ratio Calculator helps you quickly compute missing dimensions when you know a target ratio and one side length. Whether you are sizing a video player, designing a banner, cropping a photo, or planning a print layout, enter the ratio and one dimension to get the other side instantly. Common presets like 16:9, 4:3, and 1:1 are one click away.

Features

  • Solve for Width or Height — Choose which dimension to calculate — input the known side and get the other instantly.
  • Common Ratio Presets — Quick-select buttons for 16:9, 4:3, 1:1, 3:2, 21:9, and 9:16 (portrait).
  • Custom Ratio Input — Enter any ratio (e.g. 5:4, 2.39:1) for non-standard formats.
  • Simplified Ratio Display — When both dimensions are known, the tool also shows the simplified integer ratio (e.g. 1920×1080 → 16:9).

FAQ

What is an aspect ratio?
An aspect ratio describes the proportional relationship between width and height. A 16:9 ratio means for every 16 units of width there are 9 units of height, regardless of actual pixel dimensions.
How do I resize a 1920×1080 image to fit a 4:3 container?
Set the ratio to 4:3, choose "Solve for Height", and enter 1920 as the width. The calculator will output 1440 — so you would resize to 1920×1440 (with cropping as needed).
What does 21:9 mean?
21:9 is the ultrawide cinematic ratio used for cinema screens and ultrawide monitors. It is roughly 2.35:1 (anamorphic) depending on exact implementation.
Can I enter decimal ratios?
Yes. Ratios like 2.39:1 (CinemaScope) or 1.618:1 (golden ratio) are fully supported.
